Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff, Back in Chicago Running Law Firm

Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff, Tina Tchen, is now leading the Chicago office of the Buckley Sandler law firm. The 61-year-old served in the White House for six years and shifted gears after President Barack Obama left office. She hit the lecture circuit, went to Europe, and kept up her efforts to empower women and girls. When she was in the WH, she had led the now-dormant White House Council on Women and Girls. She's also an advisor to The United State of Women. Does she miss DC? “What I miss is, you can walk down the street in DC and every block or so, you'll run into somebody ... who's an economics expert or somebody who's an international law expert or someone who's doing (work on issues pertaining to) women and girls in Africa," she said. An Ohio native, Tchen graduated from Northwestern Law and is a former partner in the Chicago office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She was active on several boards, including the University of Chicago Medical Center and the Chicago Public Library. More here.
