Deputy Director, State Electoral Campaigns (NYC)

Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country, is seeking a passionate, dedicated leader to join our team as Deputy Director of State Electoral Campaigns, to assist in developing and executing our State & Local electoral and candidate focused work as we head into the 2018 elections. She or he will manage several priorities and competing interests to ensure we are electing gun sense champions up and down the ballot, and doing so while capitalizing on mutually beneficial opportunities with partner groups, allies, colleagues and like-minded organizations. This work includes contributing to and coordinating our priorities for the upcoming election and how to ensure that our gun sense agenda is most effective at the state and local levels. As the counterweight to the gun lobby, our work has a very strong focus on pushing for stronger gun laws in state legislatures and beating back dangerous laws on the federal level.

Ideal candidates are politically savvy, have deep electoral experience and thrive in a fast-paced, goal oriented environment. This position will be responsible for executing Everytown’s 2018 strategies in state and local races. They will work in close collaboration with other departments including federal campaigns, field, digital, state affairs and communications. Resources and types of support vary by race – creative thinking and perseverance are both a must in this position. Applicants must also be a self-starter, collaborative thinker, and team player.
