White House Names Chairman of the President's Board of Advisors on HBCUs

The White House has named Johnny C. Taylor Jr., the former head of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), as Chairman of the President's Board of Advisors on HBCUs. Taylor left TCMF last summer to become the President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Before joining the TMCF, Taylor was responsible for the global HR function at IAC, a portfolio of publicly traded media and internet businesses, later assuming the CEO role for one of IAC's operating companies. Taylor also served in the dual role of General Counsel and SVP of HR for Paramount Parks & Live Entertainment, as well as VP of HR at Blockbuster Entertainment. In addition, he was a labor and employment partner at the McGuireWoods LLP law firm and served as the president of the firm's human resource consulting practice. The University of Miami graduate earned both his Master’s and JD from Drake University. The announcement came as HBCU leaders met with some of the country's top companies, including Google, Starbucks, and Walmart, on Tuesday at this year's HBCU Fly-In, sponsored by Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and Congressman Mark Walker (R-NC). More here.
