Obama Condemns Weinstein
Former President Barack Obama responded on Tuesday to the allegations of sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein. "Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein," Obama said in a statement. "Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture -- including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect -- so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future." Obama's statement follows one released by Hillary Clinton, who also repudiated Weinstein, saying such behavior "cannot be tolerated." Malia Obama interned for the Hollywood mogul in the spring during her gap year. Not mentioned in Obama’s statement: “I’d put these hands on you had you ever stepped out of pocket with my daughter.” More here.
